UK Tourism

Worcestershire enjoys a wonderful location in the heart of the country, surrounded by other amazing counties which all offer fantastic places to visit.

If you have an extended stay in the UK or you’re travelling around the country for a while, we hope you make Worcestershire a core part of the itinerary. But there are other amazing places to visit. A good place to find inspiration is on the VisitBritain website which is packed with ideas and photos of the best attractions and activities the British Isles has to offer.

We throughly recommend the whole of Central England, especially the neighbouring counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire. These counties have beautiful countryside and landscapes for walking and driving tours. They have also been witness to key moments in the country’s history, and made a huge impact on the Industrial Revolution.

Nearby Birmingham is a big, bustling city with wonderful museums, art galleries, shops, restaurants and hotels. You could spend days in this location alone.

Exploring further afield, we suggest travelling across the border into Wales – a country of myth and legend with plenty of castles to visit and dramatic mountain and coastal scenery to explore. The Welsh tourist board’s VistWales website is an endless source of information on things to see and do, and places to stay in Wales.

If you have time, make the trip down the South West where the counties of Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall offer more spectacular countryside and plenty of beautiful beaches. To start researching your trip to this region go to the Visit Southwest website, which is a jumping off point for the area’s local tourism websites.

Even more time in the UK? Then you should make the effort to visit the northern cities of Manchester and Liverpool, famous for the legendary Beatles. Or explore the Lake District with its high mountains and deep lakes, including Britain’s biggest Lake Windermere. Or go the full distance and visit Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Scottish Highlands.

UK tourism has a lot to offer for the adventurous traveller. There’s so much to see and do in this wonderful country. Happy exploring!
